Sooo cold today. Making stuff with ice was the obvious choice.
Making art (with a small 'a') every day - a personal challenge to create something every day with my hands.

Greek Sea Pot
Painted a new pot design inspired by the background image currently on this blog, which is a pencil sketch I did in July this year while on holiday in Greece, looking across the choppy sea to the islands one evening.

Ball point portrait
Fifteen minute ball point pen sketch today of Oscar as he focused on a game on his phone after lunch in a great little cafe in Dolgellau. I didn't have any reading glasses with me so was unable to see any details on the page I was drawing on.

Floating leaves video
Home from shopping late last night, so spent a lazy Sunday morning editing the videos of floating leaves I made in bed on my phone.
I downloaded a handy video editing app called VivaVideo, check it out and install it here:

First portrait in years
If this is going to work, I'm going to need to take every opportunity to be creative, so here is a quick sketch of my friend, frowning in concentration at her laptop.

Leaf sketch
Wet and windy outside again today, but encouraging Oscar with his environment artwork with a sketch of one of the amazing coloured autumn leaves which are everywhere at the moment.
Used the few coloured water soluble pencils I have left - lost most of them in the woods months ago - must get some more.

Stones on the beach
Nearly dark, I gathered stones on the beach with a white stripe and started to fit them together. In the end it became too dark to continue, but made me want to go back and try this again.
The continuous thread of white, the strand which keeps on going... I want to make it really really long.
I took two images, the first with a flash, the second without.

Day One...
A daily dose of creativity makes me feel alive.
Day One: Pots for Christmas presents.
Day One: Pots for Christmas presents.
Purchased cheap 17" and 19" terracotta pots and matching pot saucers. Slapped on a coat of left over magnolia emulsion paint.
Bought some inexpensive paints from The Works (£3), and after doodling flowers on a couple of pots, tried copying the design from a pair of trousers I am fond of.
This was successful but time consuming, and I want to churn out a load of these as Christmas gifts. Focused on the fern design from the trousers and found this made quite an effective, simple and relatively fast to paint design on its own.
Found some very old varnish for exterior wood - at least 10 years old, and all though it claims on the tin to be clear, it turns out a little brown, whether from age or rust on the tin, I like the aged quality it gives the pots. It is also very drippy, but again, I don't think the odd drip looks bad.
Coated them over and over so they'll hopefully be weather proof for a few years at least.
