Day One...

A daily dose of creativity makes me feel alive.

Day One:  Pots for Christmas presents.

Purchased cheap 17" and 19" terracotta pots and matching pot saucers.  Slapped on a coat of left over magnolia emulsion paint.

Bought some inexpensive paints from The Works (£3), and after doodling flowers on a couple of pots, tried copying the design from a pair of trousers I am fond of.

This was successful but time consuming, and I want to churn out a load of these as Christmas gifts.  Focused on the fern design from the trousers and found this made quite an effective, simple and relatively fast to paint design on its own.

Found some very old varnish for exterior wood - at least 10 years old, and all though it claims on the tin to be clear, it turns out a little brown, whether from age or rust on the tin, I like the aged quality it gives the pots.  It is also very drippy, but again, I don't think the odd drip looks bad.

Coated them over and over so they'll hopefully be weather proof for a few years at least.
